HOW WE MET
Max and Meghan met in graduate school while both pursuing their Masters at the Yale School of Architecture. One class apart from each other, Max became Meghan's Teaching Assistant in her second semester and she quickly developed a huge crush on the guy who knew how to solve every problem (and who still does!). At the last academic event of the year, Max (finally!) asked her out on their first date. Every moment since has been absolute bliss.
HOW HE ASKED
After a weekend in Michigan with Meghan’s family, the couple traveled to Block Island for the Fourth of July holiday. They arrived on the most beautiful day, the weather was hot but breezy, and decided to spend it at some of their favorite spots. First, they had drinks on the lawn at Spring House overlooking the ocean, a Block Island staple. Then, an early dinner at the OAR with views of New Harbor, another Block Island favorite. When they made it back to the Mensching's House and they still had some time before the sunset, Max asked Meghan if she wanted to take a walk in the wildlife preserve across the street. On their way out of the door, Max grabbed a pair of binoculars to take with them, which was the only hint that something was out of the ordinary. To set the scene, it was a perfect golden hour. The whole preserve was glowing and the ocean surrounding them was a deep blue. Just about half way down the path, toward the saltwater lake ahead, Max took out the binoculars to look at a sailboat in the distance. He handed them over to Meghan and, as she unknowingly adjusted her vision, he got down on one knee behind her. When she heard her name, she turned around to see Max holding a small box in his hand with the most incredible look on his face. She barely let him say anything at all before she was hugging and kissing him, saying yes, of course!
The couple celebrated together with a perfect sunset, champagne on the beach, the island’s holiday fireworks show, and decided to take the next day to continue celebrating on their own. They called both parents that following evening, during another beautiful sunset, before sharing their happiness with the rest of the world!
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE COUPLE
Currently, both Meghan and Max live and work in Chelsea, Manhattan. They love their life in the city, especially their neighborhood, but on any given weekend you can find them adventuring around New England or beyond. Both have an incredible appetence for all things sweet and you can count on them to tell you exactly where to find the nearest and best ice cream location. Max was born and raised in Connecticut with his mother, father, and two older brothers; Bill and Greg. Mr. and Mrs. Mensching have recently added a new member to their family, a Portuguese Water Dog named Sage, who will undoubtedly win your love by the end of the wedding weekend. Meghan grew up in Michigan with her mother, father, and younger sister, Jordan. The Roysters have also recently welcomed a furry sibling into their home, a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Finnegan, who sends love and licks from afar.
Both the Bride and Groom are so lucky to have such amazing families and only wish that everyone was closer together!
